Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use Rekenblad: with a mouse, keyboard or screen reader, on a big or small screen. Here you can read what we do to make that happen.

Our benchmark

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, the standard behind the European accessibility law (EN 301 549). We test with the keyboard, at 360 pixels wide and at 200 % zoom.

What we do

Every page has a clear structure with headings, a link to jump straight to the content, a visible focus for keyboard users, labelled fields with error messages next to the field itself, enough colour contrast in both the light and dark themes, and respect for your device’s ‘reduce motion’ setting. Results, counts and ‘copied’ are announced.

Reading aids

With the button showing a little figure at the top of every page, you choose larger text, more space between lines and letters, a readable font, more contrast, underlined links, less motion or a reading guide. Your choice is saved on your device.

What isn’t perfect yet

Anything you can drag can also be done with buttons: open a file with ‘Open file’ or ‘Choose a file’. You choose columns with the column letters, which are ordinary buttons. A QR code or barcode is an image: a screen reader reads out what’s in it through the description, and the text itself is always in the field above it. The preview table only shows the first rows.
