Questions

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about your privacy, the tools and their limits.

Your data

  • Does my data go to a server?

No. Rekenblad works entirely in your browser. Whatever you paste or open stays on your own device. The site technically allows no outgoing connections.

  • Does Rekenblad keep what I paste?

No. Close the page and everything is gone. Your browser only remembers your preferences, such as light or dark.

  • Do I need to create an account?

No. No account, no email address, no cookies to follow you.

The tools

  • Is it really free?

Yes. No limit on how often, no ads, no watermark. Rekenblad is a free tool from nealvdv, part of Handig.

  • Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in a recent browser. Large tables do go more smoothly on a computer, because it has more memory.

  • Why does Excel open my CSV in one column?

Excel in Belgium expects a semicolon between the columns and a comma as the decimal separator. With CSV to Excel you turn it into a real Excel file; with Excel to CSV you choose the delimiter yourself.

Limits

  • How big can a file be?

Up to 50 MB per file. Beyond that, many devices run out of memory.

  • Can Rekenblad open protected Excel files?

No. First remove the password in Excel, using the password you know.

  • Are formatting and formulas kept?

No. Rekenblad works with values: text, numbers and dates. Colours, borders, formulas and charts don’t come along.
