Sort lines

A list of names in alphabetical order, prices from low to high, or a fair draw: Rekenblad sorts the way a person expects, with é next to e and item 2 before item 10.

How it works

Sort lines in three steps

  1. Paste your list

One item per line, or open a text file.

  2. Choose how to sort

Alphabetically, by number, by length or at random.

  3. Take the result

    Copy or download the list.

Questions

Good to know

  • Why is é next to e and not at the end?

Rekenblad sorts like a dictionary in that language, not by the code of the characters. So école comes between eau and zebra, and Äpfel next to Apfel.

  • Is random really fair?

Yes. Rekenblad uses your browser’s cryptographic random generator, so every order is equally likely. Handy for a draw or a speaking order.

  • Does my list go to a server?

No. The sorting happens only in your own browser.
